Driving Change Across the U.S. Air Force

Booz Allen’s support for the Air Force Office of Business Transformation hits some of the most complex organizational problems facing the service branch. Just like the rest of the military, the Air Force is being asked to do more with less, so transformation is a must. We’re helping it adapt its operations for a more resource-constrained environment.

It takes many different skill sets—and lots of teamwork—to make the U.S. Air Force’s day-to-day operations run smoothly.

As we help the department integrate new technology and continually transform, we’re assisting with force-wide challenges like identifying gaps in care provided to airmen with post-traumatic stress, increasing recruitment and retention, and redesigning the budgeting execution process.

Faced with addressing such broad challenges, it’s essential that reach-back expertise is only a click or a phone call away—even when the ideal subject matter expert needs an extremely rare combination of skills.

Our work on the transformation project also includes support for the Air Force Review Boards Agency— an organization that helps America’s heroes get the benefits they deserve more quickly.

The many and varied challenges we’re helping the Air Force address include:

• Improving patient communication and the continuum of care process from the perspective of airmen and their families suffering from invisible wounds like post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury
• Supporting the design of career tracks to improve pilot retention
• Supporting the stand-up of new capabilities by developing and wargaming an integrated family of concepts and capabilities to support long-range planning guidance
• Continuously attracting and retaining the best and brightest talent needed to meet and exceed mission objectives.

This collective effort has a potential cost avoidance in the range of hundreds of millions of dollars, ultimately empowering Air Force leadership to more strategically allocate vital resources. As we continue to work with new entities within the Air Force, we’re demonstrating time and again that our mission and theirs are one and the same.
