Forbes Names Booz Allen Among Best for Diversity

For the fourth year in a row, Forbes has named Booz Allen among America’s Best Employers for Diversity.

The list recognizes top U.S. employers for proactive diversity and inclusion initiatives, diverse boards and executive ranks, and dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), as determined by a survey of 60,000 American workers. And within Booz Allen, the recognition represents an ongoing commitment. 

Booz Allen’s 11-member Board of Directors is 73% diverse (gender and ethnicity). Also of note, 8 of 9 (89%) of the Booz Allen leadership team are gender or ethnically diverse. 

The firm recently completed an independent assessment of its diversity management practice to build on its 20+-year commitment to the work and identify opportunities for continued growth, resulting in a refreshed DEI strategy that sets new goals for Booz Allen to lead by example, empower employee potential, inspire belonging, and use its voice and capabilities to increase equity in the communities in which its employees live and work.       

The next step: rolling out a comprehensive firmwide approach to DEI that broadens Booz Allen’s commitment both internally and externally. Through a robust action plan, the firm is committed to reducing bias and improving equity in its policies, initiatives, and processes; increasing transparency, leadership accountability, sponsorship, and development of underrepresented talent; enhancing employee engagement for all; and building a journey for continuously growing DEI skills, learning, and understanding. 
 
This includes actions like the firm’s annual 2022 Unstoppable Together Summit focused on social and systemic equity. Booz Allen’s Unstoppable Together podcast explores a wide range of DEI topics with special guests and the Unstoppable Together magazine provides progress updates on the firm's DEI strategy and action plan.  

Inclusion on the Forbes “America’s Best Employers for Diversity” list is one of many recent recognitions for Booz Allen in this area. 

Booz Allen has long been recognized as a workplace of choice. Most recently, the Human Rights Campaign recognized Booz Allen as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality” for the 12th year in a row after the firm earned another perfect score of 100 on the Corporate Equity Index.  

Forbes named Booz Allen its No. 1 Best Employer for Women for 2021, leading a roster that includes Sephora, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and REI. The firm has also spent over two decades on the Working Mother Best Companies list, which names 100 companies each year whose family-friendly policies and culture are best for working moms. In addition, Booz Allen has received multiple recognitions for being an employer of choice for veterans and military spouses.

The firm has also long been considered a leader in disability inclusion. Booz Allen scored 100% on the Disability Equality Index, a nationwide benchmarking tool by Disability:IN and the American Association for People with Disabilities. In 2021, CAREERS & the disABLED magazine named Booz Allen their Private Sector Employer of the Year .

On an individual level, hundreds of Booz Allen employees have been recognized over the years by the Society for Asian Scientists and Engineers, the Women of Color STEM Awards, and as Modern Day Technology Leaders by the Black Engineer of the Year Awards.
