Joe Rohner is a leader in Booz Allen’s artificial intelligence (AI) business. He helps defense clients apply AI and advanced analytics to yield better mission outcomes through AI adoption and strategy, engineering, and model development; quantum services; and AI systems. Based in our San Diego, California, office, Joe and his teams deliver AI solutions to our clients in the western U.S. and the Pacific, including Hawaii, Japan, and Korea.
For more than 17 years, Joe has supported our defense clients, first at the Department of the Navy before expanding his role across the services and promoting reuse to accelerate AI adoption and solutions. He is also the firm’s AI talent lead responsible for the strategy and execution of training, recruiting, and retaining the largest AI workforce supporting the federal government.
Since 2017, Joe has helped organizations use hackathons to crowdsource their data science challenges and unlock the true value of their data, including acting as the lead architect of the data science track at the Navy's HACKtheMACHINE. He also provides leadership for the world’s premier data science competition for social good, the Data Science Bowl®, presented by Booz Allen and Kaggle.
Recognized for his leadership, expertise, and contributions to the field, Joe received two “40 Under 40” awards in 2019: from the San Diego Business Journal and the Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association (AFCEA).
Joe has an M.B.A. and a B.S. in statistics from San Diego State University. He also holds numerous certifications, including a master’s certification in business analytics from Indiana University.
