Mark Pflanz is a digital engineering expert in Booz Allen’s aerospace business. Mark leads the firm’s engineering team supporting the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO). He is also the F-35 enterprise lead for model-based systems engineering (MBSE). He and his team are leading the transformation of the JPO to incorporate MBSE aspects of digital engineering and core engineering support across the F-35 enterprise. In addition, Mark established and leads our digital engineering certification program.
Mark returned to Booz Allen after serving as director of systems engineering for On Demand Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in his career, he was a senior lead engineer at Booz Allen, focusing on ground combat vehicle systems engineering on programs including the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle and Amphibious Combat Vehicle. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Mark served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army.
He is an International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) certified systems engineering professional and an Object Management Group (OMG) certified systems modeling professional. Mark is a frequent speaker on systems engineering, and his research has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
Mark holds a Ph.D. in systems engineering and operations research from George Mason University, an M.S. in systems engineering from Virginia Tech, and a B.S. in engineering psychology from West Point.
